Apr 22nd, 2014 3:25 pmProbably easier to take this out of the trunk once every 4 years and charge it at a nearby outlet than to get someone to give you a boost. Was stuck once, and not a single person/gas station attendant would give me a boost.- Assuming it would even work after sitting with a dead battery for so long (they recommend charging every 30-60 days and life expectancy is 3-6 years).- The heat in a trunk can damage it.- You need an outlet you can use.- You need to wait many hours to recharge it.Most taxi drivers will give you a boost for $20 cash if they're not busy. Or you can offer anyone the $20 and I'm sure someone will help (it helps if you already have cables with you). Or you phone a friend.
Gotta love CT and their marketing strategy. Last year, they were selling a Stanley-branded booster pack (1000/500 amp model instead of this 1400/700 amp model) for $52, and it was obvious the Stanley unit was identical to the Eliminator model! Heck, it even physically looks like this 1400/700 model. One would expect that even at $52 CTC was making a profit on this:And here they are saying the regular price on this model 1400/700 amp model is $180 and now on sale for $105!!!!
I would wager their cost is probably $40 to $50. Was stuck once, and not a single person/gas station attendant would give me a boost.I think the times have changes, nobody wants to help boost a car, I was stuck at Fallsview Casino and by good luck the maintenance department had a booster pack.Maybe 10 years ago things were different. I keep booster cables and I do offer help to anyone stranded. I also have CAA as a backup.
